A Dame Edna
Experience at Emu Park Lions Dinner
All members were surprised when special guest Dame Edna,
aka Yeppoon Lion Don Knowles arrived to perform the official
ceremony which was held at the new Zilzie Bay Resort.
A large crowd of Emu Park Club members, invited club
members, and other invited guests as well as the lions
family members were treated to a night that will be long
remembered. There was a lot of fun before the serious
part of the night where new officers were inducted in
a style that is unique to Emu Park.
Mind you although the night is a lot of fun the
matter of officer installation is a serious matter. We
might have fun with it but all officers were reminded
of the serious responsibilty they have taken on. Even
though the pledge was in song, the words reminded the
officers there is a very serious side to the positions
they have agreed to fill.
As you will se from the
photos, everyone had loads of fun. If you know one
of your friends who would like to be part of the Lions
family, please invite them to come along and meet us.
We are serious about Family, Friendship, Fellowship, Fun
and making a big difference to the lives of people in
our community.
I would like to congratulate the outgoing officers on
a great year in Lions. Your have led the club in a great
year. Welcome to the new officers, some of you are repeat
positions so it's welcome back. Special welcome to new
club president Lion Kevin Wheat. We have all pledged our
support and will be there to assist you in any way we
are able to. As everyone is aware Lions first responsiblity
is to family, second to work and finally a little left
over for Lions. All members should be aware of this and
ensure they achieve the correct balance to ensure that
they don't get burned out. Don't be afraid to mention
to your friends anytime we are working on fundraising
or working bees as they may be quite happy to lend a hand
in our efforts.
Finally I would like to ask each member to remember why
they decided to join Lions. For some of you that may have
been a long time ago. Let us all know why you decided
to be part of the Lions family and maybe even drop your
me, Rob, a short story for either the web page or the
newsletter.
Best regards from Lion Rob (webmaster)
