Lap The Map for Diabetes

When

17/11/2019
9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Where

Bell Park, Emu Park
9 Hill Street, Emu Park, Queensland, 4710

Event Type

Our activity for World Diabetes day includes both exercise and screening.
The screening test is a self-directed Risk Assessment tool (Ausdrisk) which the individual completes and adds up the score, if the risk is high, advice should be sought from your doctor.

The exercise that coincides with our market day, involves a low level walk of 3 km, starting at the Lions market stall. Walking to Hill St., turn right and right again before Pattison St., to follow the trail past the exercise machines (try if you wish) to Sleeman St. then returning via the same route.

A water station will be provided in Lions Park, with a rest stop to complete the screening tool. The distance traveled by each person will be logged to create a combined distance traveled. It is hoped to exceed Australia’s circumference (25760kms) – hence the title “Lap the Map”. This walk showcases some features of Emu Park Lions. The markets, the Lions Information stall, Lions Park, and exercise machines on the gym trail. You may spot several Historic Trail Emus on the journey.

Be on the lookout! And remember, the Historic Trail is a great (and Interesting) walk for another day.
